Here are the some special features on hidden security camera's, you should consider this, before you purchase or IF you decided to purchase a wireless hidden camera :
- Type of Camera (CCD or CMOS) : You Must Know, if you Choose a model based on CCD technology and not the CMOS type. It provides higher resolution images and works better in low light conditions.
- Resolution of Camera : Higher the resolution number, sharper the image. For quality models, look for around 400 lines of resolution For top of the line models (more expensive), pick one with between 420 and 470 lines of resolution.
- Camera LUX Rating : The lower the number, the less light is required to reproduce a clear image. Rated at 1 LUX, means it has the ability to see an image during early evening hours. A .05 LUX camera can actually see more than the human eye at night. 0.003 LUX is required for situations in almost complete darkness.
- Camera Frequency Range : Typically you have 900 Mhz, 1.2 Ghz and 2.4Ghz to choose from. Just try to pick a wireless hidden camera using a frequency not used by other wireless devices in the area to achieve maximum transmission range. Many wireless home phones normally operate at 900mgz or 1.2ghz, which is why many wireless hidden camera models work better using 2.4, rather than lower frequencies.
- Camera Transmission Range : Range can vary from 300 up to 2000 feet line of sight! The maximum distance limit you (and the receiver) can stand away from the camera and still receive the video signal. To be on the safe side, in real life with walls, people and cars in the way, and without testing for yourself, you should assume the typical range for a wireless hidden camera to be half of that advertised. Just to be safe. But you can always ask the merchant of course.
